FAQs
Q: What is the purpose of this project?
A: The goal of this project is to design a skyway or bridge to help facilitate improved movement around the Drexel Campus. The project is purely theoretical, and the final result of the project will be a blueprint and digital model of the proposed skyway.
Q: Why did you choose the intersection that you did?
A: We created a formula that combines the result of a survey to see where students wanted a walkway, along with a traffic and pedestrian volume surveys to determine where the walkway was most needed. The results of all the surveys are on the background page.
Q: Where will the skywalk be?
A: The skywalk will connect the library, athletic center, Nesbitt hall, and the open area near the Mario statue.
Q: What will the design of the skywalk be?
A: The skywalk will consist of four walkways going from the buildings and the Mario statue to a central hub. On the central hub there can be benches and a couple of tables, maybe a planter in the center of the platform.
Q: How is ADA accessibility addressed in your design?
A: On the three ends that connect to buildings ADA accessibility is built into the existing structures. A switchback ramp will be used for ADA accessibility on the end that connects to the sidewalk.
